About the Position: Under general supervision, the Audiologist Specialist 2 performs internship/externship coordinating services for audiology graduate student practicums, educates, prepares, and supervises audiology graduate students in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the evaluation and treatment of communication disorders, and in the development of related interpersonal and professional/technical skills. Provides direct services to patients, demonstrating clinical skills for undergraduate and graduate CSD students.
As a member of an interdisciplinary team in Western Washington University’s Speech and Hearing Clinics, provides professional audiology services to individuals with communicative disabilities such as hearing loss or impairments, auditory processing, and aural rehabilitation. Develops habilitation or rehabilitation programs for individuals and monitors/evaluates their progress.
The position helps fulfill the mission of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders by providing the highest quality student-centered learning environment where undergraduate and graduate students develop the knowledge, clinical skills and life-long learning skills to prepare them for professional careers and advanced study in speech-language pathology and audiology.
The State HR title for this position is Speech Path/Audio Spec 2.
This position is covered by a Public School Employees of WWU bargaining unit. New employees are required to meet the membership requirements of the current collective bargaining agreement within 30 calendar days of employment.
- Master’s degree in audiology
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- License to practice audiology and dispense hearing aids from the state of Washington
- Experience as a clinical supervisor
- Two years of experience as an audiologist, including experience with both diagnostic and therapeutic approaches
